My wife has been watching Doctor Who for some time now. I've always wanted to start over and catch up, but never got around to it. Finally got to it and am currently catching up as I write this from my phone.
Watching this show, a British show, has made me realize how lost American Entertainment has become. This show doesn't have amazing visuals, it doesn't have prize celebrities, but it sure as hell has a great story and it keeps you interested.
When I think about films and TV shows in America I think of crappy remakes of story lines that never change. I think of movies that take no risks because if you kill a main, loved character the majority of the population thinks the movie sucks because they cried and left sad. I think of smart, intelligent movies getting crappy reviews while, "The girl gets the guy," gets rave reviews because people don't want to think when they see movies. Horror movies have become, "Look blood! Be scared!" All in all the movies are entertaining, but I miss having to work or re-view movies in order to catch everything and fully understand them.
Ok off one soap box and onto another awaaaaay!
I read an article about a new type of windmill today being developed in Japan. It looks extremely promising in terms of changing the status of renewable energy in the market. Now I'm not against this, and never have been. I've always been in the, "when it is cost efficient and can replace or efficiently supplement coal/nuclear we should definitely do it," boat, wow that was a big boat.
Now this isn't about that new tech, and it isn't about that huge boat either.
This is about a comment made where I found that article. It stated that people who said that wind was inefficient and not viable were now shown to be plain wrong. What bothers me is that no one I know that is against renewable has ever been against it forever. The argument that we are wrong is wrong because the comment is made linking to new technology. The argument that we use is, "Wind is not viable right now, more research needs to be done to improve the efficiency before it can be used in place of coal/nuclear." Don't tell me I'm wrong about CURRENT wind technology and then link me to an article about NEW technology. Your article proves our point you dumbass.
Ok now that I've effectively swyped my way through two soap boxes which sucks btw, I can finish on a happy note. KITTENS KITTENS KITTENS!!!!!
